Today, we are making a delicious treat that will not only satisfy your child's sweet tooth but also give you an opportunity to imagine the beauty and wonder of Heaven. We are making classic rice crispy treats, but we’ll be adding a touch of gold to resemble the streets of Heaven. Gather your ingredients and let's get started!
Ingredients:
- 5 ½ cups of Rice Krispies cereal
- 1 - 10oz bag of mini marshmallows
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

- A pinch of sea salt
- Vanilla almond bark or white chocolate
- Golden sprinkles
And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each of the gates made of a single pearl, and the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.
Revelation 21:21
Step 1: Prepare your Workspace
Find a clean and spacious area in your kitchen where you and your child can comfortably work together. Ensure all the necessary ingredients and utensils are within reach.
Step 2: Melt the Butter and Marshmallows
In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, add the mini marshmallows and stir continuously until they have completely melted and the mixture is smooth. (3-6 minutes)
Step 3: Add Vanilla, Salt, and Rice Krispies
Remove the saucepan from heat and add the vanilla extract, sea salt, and Rice Krispies cereal to the marshmallow mixture. Mix well, ensuring all the cereal is coated with the marshmallow goodness.
Step 4: Press into a Pan
Transfer the mixture to a greased 8x8 baking dish. Use a rubber spatula to press the mixture firmly and evenly into the pan.
Step 5: Decorate with Almond Bark and Golden Sprinkles
Melt the almond bark or white chocolate according to the package instructions. Once melted, drizzle it over the top of the Rice Krispy treats. Sprinkle golden sprinkles generously over the almond bark, creating a shimmering effect reminiscent of the streets of gold in Heaven.
Step 6: Let It Cool and Set
Allow the treats to cool and the almond bark to set completely. This may take about an hour.
Step 7: Cut and Serve
Once the treats have cooled and set, cut them into desired shapes, such as squares or rectangles.
Snack-Time Conversations
Here are a few simple conversation starters you can use to imagine Heaven together!
- “What do you imagine Heaven will be like? Can you describe some things you think we might see or experience there?”
- "In Revelation 21:21, it describes the streets of Heaven as pure gold. Why do you think gold is often associated with something precious or valuable?”
- “How can we bring a taste of Heaven to others here on Earth? How can we show God's love and share His joy with those around us?”
As you enjoy your snack and dream about Heaven, remind your child that even the biggest and best ideas we have won’t compare to the beauty and wonder that awaits us!
